Dr. James Helmuth graduated with a B.A.
degree in Social Science Comprehensive and Education from Malone College in
Canton, Ohio. He earned a Masters Degree in Religion from Earlham School of
Religion and a Ph.D. in Guidance and Counseling from The University of Akron,
in Akron, Ohio. He is a licensed psychologist in the state of Ohio and owner of
Helmuth Psychological Associates in Akron since 1986.
Dr. Helmuth has special training in Psychopharmacology, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Treatment, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
Dr. Helmuth has taught workshops
on Stress Management, Dual Diagnosis In Substance Abuse Recovery, Overcoming
Depression, and Coping with Posttraumatic Stress. In his private practice he treats mood disorders,
relationship issues and trauma/anxiety disorders.
Dr. Helmuth has provided psychological testing and treatment for
over 350 impaired police and firemen in Ohio. He has also lead Critical Incident Stress Debriefings for police and fire departments. He lives with his partner in Akron, Ohio.
